You will soon be able to change your PSN Online ID

For a very long time PlayStation fans have wanted to change their PSN names but to no avail. However, Sony is finally making it possible to change your PSN name very soon.

Sony announced all the details via the PlayStation blog. A beta to change your name will take place and your name change will be free. If you want to change it again, it will cost you $9.99 each time. PlayStation Plus members get a small discount as name changes will only cost $4.99 per spin. You can read the details below.

When you change your online ID, you have the option of displaying your old ID along with your new ID, so your friends can recognize you. Once you decide whether or not to display your old ID, you will not be able to adjust it after completing the online ID change process.

This feature is compatible with PS4 games originally released after April 1, 2018 and with a large majority of most played PS4 games released before that date. However, please note that not all games and apps for PS4, PS3, and PS Vita systems are guaranteed to support online ID changing, and users may occasionally experience issues or errors in some games. If for any reason you experience any issues after changing your ID, you can switch back to your original ID at any time for free (you will only be able to switch back once during the preview program). Reverting to an old ID will fix most issues caused by changing IDs. Additionally, upon the official launch of this feature, a list of compatible games released prior to April 1, 2018 will be provided on for reference before you make any changes.

The preview program to change the name ends in November 2018. After that, all PSN users will be able to change their name in early 2019.
