Paul Michael “Mike” Mulchay
March 20, 1943 – January 31, 2022
Nampa, Idaho – Paul Michael “Mike” Mulchay, 78, died January 31, 2022. Mike was born March 20, 1943 in Lander, WY to Paul and Claribel Mulchay, he was their only son. Throughout his life Mike has lived in many places including: Lander, WY; Broken arch, NE; Burley, ID; Meridian, ID; and finally to Nampa, ID. Mike graduated from Meridian High School in 1962. In 1961 Mike began custom farming and hauling hay, which he continued to do until 1970. He was also active in the National Guard from Idaho from 1965 to 1970. In October 1968 he married the love of his life, Sandra Mallory and they recently celebrated 53 years of marriage. Shortly after their marriage began, they launched Mike’s Sand and Gravel in 1972 and Boise Valley Gravel in 1974.
On March 18, 1980, Mike and Sandy welcomed their only child, Paula, into their lives and she completed their family. The three of them have done many outdoor activities together, including:
snowmobiling, horseback riding, camping and staying at the family cabin. In 1988, they purchased their dream ranch home in Nampa, ID, where they still reside to this day. In October 2003 Mike and Sandy sold Mike’s Sand and Gravel and retired to their farm and ranch. Mike has always loved driving equipment: loaders, tractors and trucks being his favourites. He had a soft spot for border collies and always had one by his side. Along with his love of dogs, Mike also enjoyed having Black Angus cows and enjoyed seeing them every day on his ranch.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Claribel, his daughter, Paula and his sister, Madeline Evans. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lee Mulchay.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the Idaho FFA Foundation in honor of Mike.
Funeral services will be held on February 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Cloverdale Funeral Home located in Boise, ID, followed by a celebration of life from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the reception hall.
