It’s official, you can now change your PSN Online ID

No one thought this day would ever come, but it’s finally here. Starting today, PSN users will be able to change their ID online.

As previously announced, the first time you change your username, the process will be completely free. However, later changes will cost you $9.99, although PS Plus users get a 50% discount on that amount.

Additionally, old online logins will still be linked to your account and you can revert to your old usernames by contacting PlayStation Support. This process of restoring your username is free.

At the moment, you can change your PSN ID either through the PS4 console itself or through Sony’s website. This can be done by accessing the PS4 Settings menu, choosing Account Management, Account Info, Profile, and Online ID. You will then be prompted to enter your new username and confirm it.

Sony mentioned that you might experience issues with an ID change, such as leaderboards for some games not updating properly. But overall, changing the PSN ID shouldn’t have too much of an impact on most games, so you should be able to switch without too much hassle.
