Have you ever seen a PowerPoint design idea you like and want to save it as a template because you want to reuse it or share it with others? In PowerPoint, you can easily save the design idea you like in the Design Idea pane. Design Ideas are slide layout designs that you use to format your slides to make them look attractive. Layouts are displayed on the right side of the PowerPoint interface. When you activate the PowerPoint Designer Idea feature, starting with a blank slide; the feature will recommend photos that mirror the text on the slide, along with a slide scheme with colors to match the photo you choose. The PowerPoint Designer Idea recommendations on the right will present some design layouts as a GIF that will show the image on the moving slide.

How to Save Slide Design Idea as PowerPoint Template

Follow the steps below to save a PowerPoint Designer idea as a template:

  1. Insert design ideas into your slides.
  2. Click on the File tab.
  3. Click Save As
  4. A Save As dialog box will open.
  5. Name the file and select the PowerPoint Template file type from the list.
  6. Create a folder to save the template.
  7. Click Save.

Insert a design idea into your slide and other slides into your presentation.

Click it Case tab in the menu bar.

Click on Save as in the Backstage view.

A Save as dialog box will open.

You can create a folder or use an existing folder to save the template.

In the File name input box, enter a name for the template, and in the Files of type box, select PowerPoint template from the list.

Then click on the Save button.

To open the model; Click on Case.

Click on New in the Backstage view.

On the right, click Personal.

Select the saved template.

Click on Create.

The saved design template is opened and you can reuse it as another presentation or share the template with colleagues.

Why doesn’t my PowerPoint show design ideas?

If you see the Design Ideas button in PowerPoint grayed out, it means you’re not connected to the internet or no slides are selected. So you need to make sure that you have a strong internet connection and that you have selected a slide layout in the Insert tab of the slide group.
