Alexandre Joly, CEO of Elyctis, said: “We are very pleased to have been selected by BioRugged, a company renowned for the design of robust yet user-friendly business terminals, for their new range of border control devices.

BioRugged, an expert in biometric systems, has made a specialty of offering devices designed to meet the requirements of segments of the identification market, including border control, law enforcement and elections. The company presents its new range of products for border control with particular attention to the usual workflow of border control officers. Using a ‘form follows function’ approach, the company designed its mobile solution by analyzing day-to-day border control operations in many countries. BioRugged highly integrated BioWolf DEZ takes all these requirements into account. For example, it allows the border control officer to hold the reader and the passport in one hand while keeping the other hand free. This design performance could only be achieved thanks to the compact form factor and ease of integration of the Elyctis ID BOX One readers which provide MRZ, contact and contactless reading functions for all types of electronic passports and electronic identity cards.

The BioRugged Marque 5.1 multimodal biometric enrollment station, which provides all the necessary functionalities for biometric enrollment (fingerprint reader, camera with LED for lighting, document scanner) is now also available with a document reader integrated Elyctis ID BOX One, which reads the MRZ, contact and contactless interfaces of all identity documents. Due to its small form factor and specific design, it is ideal for use in any border control booth.

BioRugged catering only to professional needs via its international network of integrators, the decision to integrate Elyctis readers was obvious: the Elyctis ID BOX One ticks all the boxes in terms of professional requirements. Not only does it guarantee fast reading of identity documents, but it has proven its compatibility with all types of electronic passports and electronic identity cards. Elyctis identity readers have been developed taking into account the specific conditions of reading identity documents, which can only be achieved with a dedicated RFID chip and firmware. To meet identity reading requirements, Elyctis readers have a very small footprint which facilitates their integration. Moreover, the Elyctis firmware, ID BOX SDK, which is delivered free of charge to integrators, guarantees an easy integration process for terminal developers.

Arnd Langguth, CEO of BioRugged, says: “Elyctis ID readers have proven to be best suited for border control applications: they have been tested and validated to quickly and accurately read all chips and passports. Elyctis not only provides reliable, cost-effective and easy-to-integrate readers, but also exceptional support for hardware and software integration. They are recognized and used by government authorities around the world.

Alexandre Joly, CEO of Elyctis, adds: “We are very pleased to have been selected by BioRugged, a company renowned for the design of robust but user-friendly professional terminals, for their new range of border control devices. Unlike smartphone developments, our half-page readers are totally suitable for professional applications since they integrate a dedicated MRZ scanner capable of reading MRZ lines without movement in all circumstances and environmental conditions (darkness, sunlight), and a chip Dedicated RF (not a standard NFC reader like those common in smartphones).
